With the V8, Aston Martin bade farewell to the classic, Carrozzeria Touring-designed shapes of the DB4, 5, and 6. Sharper lines more in keeping with the 1970s and modern technologies were intended to keep Aston Martin at the top of the luxury sports car segment. Aston Martin developed the car with the idea of using an eight-cylinder engine, but initially, it featured the familiar DB6 four-litre six-cylinder engine, albeit in slightly tuned compared to the DBS. Two years after its introduction, the 5,340 cc V8 engine with 324 hp and 450 Nm of torque made its appearance, making it a very powerful motor.
